How to Buy the Best Cross Training Shoes
With the right cross training shoe, you can comfortably participate in a wide variety of activities in the same shoe. It is essentially an “all-purpose” shoe. Plus, with the
number of brands and styles available, you are sure to find one that meets your needs and your tastes.
Comfort & Cushioning
As with any shoe, you want to select one that fits well and is comfortable.
Most cross training shoes offer lightweight cushioning.
Traction
Another consideration is traction. The soles of most cross training shoes are designed to accommodate a variety of terrains. Consider your unique needs, though, when selecting
a cross trainer and look at its sole. Does it look like it will provide the level of traction you will need?
Leather or Fabric?
Cross training shoes are made in both fabric and leather styles.
If you will be using your shoes outside and possibly in wet areas, you will likely want a leather shoe to offer
more water protection. If your shoes will be mainly for inside use, or dry weather conditions outdoors, either style would be appropriate. Another point to keep in mind is that
leather can offer more stability than fabric or mesh shoes.
While cross training shoes offer a basic level of stability, you may want to consider shoes designed specifically for running or other high-impact sports if you participate in those
frequently. Otherwise, cross training shoes are great for taking you from the gym to the tennis court to the trail!
