How To Select Tennis Shoes You'll Love
If you’re a tennis player, you know that your tennis shoes need to stand up to a lot of starting and stopping, as well as side-to-side movement. Because
of all this movement, there are a number of things to consider when selecting a good shoe.
Durability
Playing tennis puts a lot of strain on a shoe, so you want to select a tennis shoe that will provide you with a high amount of durability. Durability also
translates into more weight, though, so select the level of durability appropriate for your needs. For example, if you tend to drag your toe when you serve,
you will want to choose a tennis shoe that includes a reinforced toe. Also, durability if more of a factor is you typically play on hard courts as opposed
to clay or grass courts.
Stability
Stability is another important feature of tennis shoe styles. The side-to-side motion used in a vigorous game of tennis can be hard on your ankles, particularly
if you roll your feet at all. You will want a wide sole with a flat bottom to ensure stability and balance. If you are prone to ankle injuries, look for a tennis
shoe with a higher cut.
Flexibility
Your tennis shoe should be flexible at the ball of the foot, but not offer too much flexibility. You want to find a balance between offering traction and stability,
and enabling you to move and respond quickly.
Cushioning
Finally, you want your tennis shoe to provide you with cushioning and have an ability to absorb shock, particularly if you mostly play on hard surfaces. This is also
particularly important for people whose foot naturally rolls outward.
So if you’re set to win the set, do it in a pair of winning tennis shoes!
