The Perfect Shoe Shine

Nothing enhances the beauty of a great pair of shoes like the perfect shoe shine. Even the oldest pair of shoes can look like new when you add a little polish.

Well, you don't have to go to the Shoe Repair Shop to get that fantastic shoe shine anymore. Here are simple to follow instructions so that you can shine your own shoes like a pro.

Shoe Shine Essentials

You'll need the following items to give your shoes the perfect shine:

  1. Several Cotton Clothes (Old wash clothes or socks work nicely)
  2. Shoe Polish that matches your shoe color
  3. A horsehair shoe polish applicator
  4. A horsehair shoeshine brush
Shoe Shine Kit

A quality shoe shine kit will contain everything you need to give your shoes a perfect shine.

The Shoe Shine Process

Note: Do not attempt to polish wet shoes. Wait for your shoes to thoroughly dry before you apply shoe polish.

  1. Remove dust and dirt from the shoes you're about to shine. If you use water or a cleaning solution, please see the note above.
  2. Use a shoe polish applicator brush to generously apply the polish to the shoes. Make sure to get the polish all the way down to the soles of the shoes.
  3. Let the shoe polish soak into the shoes undisturbed for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Insert your least dominant hand into the shoe (I wrap my hand in a cloth so I can get a firm grip on the shoe), or use the shoe holder that's part of a standard shoe shine kit.
  5. Using a horsehair shoeshine brush, rub the newly polished shoe with a swift motion until the shoes begin to take on a beautiful luster.

This is a simple process that is easy, will help lengthen the life of your shoes, and make them look as good as new. Happy shoe shining!
